Gundam Wing Television Show:

In the anime New Mobile Report Gundam Wing, they first encounter each other in "Episode 03: Five Gundams Confirmed". Trowa is at Corsica Base taking out airplanes, battle ships and Leo and Aries Mobile Suits. After he runs out of bullets Quatre shows up backs up by the Maganac troops.

Soon the base is destroyed along with all the weapons leaving only Trowa, Quatre and the Maganac members. Quatre's comrades make note of Heavy Arms lacking firepower. Quatre is certain that the pilot isn't the sort to only rely on firearms. He knows the other is still capable and someone to be wary of.

Quatre is soon distracted by an escaping OZ aircraft and Trowa takes advantage. He launches Heavy Arms at Sandrock, using his last weapon, the Army Knife as his offense. Quatre manages to subdue the arm by locking Sandrock's arm down into a crushing hold and then snaps the arm at the joint rendering it useless. Trowa has Heavy Arms knee Sandrock to push Quatre back and Quatre responds with throwing his free arm into a punch. Trowa blocks it with his remaining free hand. After that they can only struggle for who has the greatest strength and endurance.

Some believe Quatre takes this time to feel out the intentions of the other pilot using his Space Heart. Others might note he merely is assessing the situation. In anycase, he soon realizes what's happening is wrong. Quatre lowers the blast and shield doors on his cockpit and runs out to stand on the platform to address Trowa directly that they shouldn't be fighting.

Trowa soon echoes his action and comes out of his own cockpit with his hands raised in submission. Some might say he was doing such as a tactic, but it also could have been an instinctual tug. He surrendered to the other easily. He possibly saw something Quatre and thus followed his instincts.
Either way, Quatre relaxes at this and smiles to the other, telling him such is unnecessary since he came out to show his trust to the other. Trowa isn't quick to oblige and so they stand there and observe each other.

From what I have seen, many fans of pairing them as a couple tend to use this scene as evidence to their feelings. Well, from studying the scene, Quatre may have come to think Trowa as a potential friend. As for Trowa, perhaps seeing the pilot was around his age and quickly showed an amiable personality, he'd be able to have an upper hand should he go along with him. He could find out more about this pilot with a similar Mobile Suit to his under the guise of friendship, because really... I can't see Trowa so easily trust another until gathering reason.

In the next episode, "Episode 04: The Victoria Nightmare", it shows that Quatre brought Trowa back to a villa. In a music room Quatre was playing his violin while Trowa listened. After learning the song, Trowa soon joins in. The action seemed to touch Quatre as it showed that Trowa seemed to trust him.

Perhaps in this situation Trowa had assessed that Quatre was no threat. Thus he decided to relax a bit. Perhaps he really did begin to trust Quatre. Observing the scene, Quatre might have felt a change in the other through his empathy because he suddenly paused in his playing to look up. Trowa hadn't made any noise to alert Quatre yet. If he had opened the door before Quatre looked up, that could be considered, but he didn't. In light of that, perhaps Quatre's smile at the action had more reason than just seeing the actions but by feeling a change. Who knows?

Anyway, it soon shows after that Quatre freely had Trowa's Gundam fixed by the Maganacs in an underground base. Rashid, the leader of the group, thinks on how he is relieved that Trowa is not an enemy. So, their view of him is already established. Perhaps it was because it was Quatre's decision, but it goes to show how much they believe in the boy's assessment of Trowa.

As a side note, due to some fans of the pairing likely seeing it as evidence, throughout this scene the song played is "Sparkling Harmony". On the Gundam Wing: Operation 1 CD there are two listed "Bridge Collections". The first is "Noble-mindedness" and the second is "Affection". "Sparkling Harmony" ends up under "Affection".

The only problem here is the bridge collection is all in the single "song" called "GW Bridge Collection II Affection". All the short sound snippets pieced together are various "bridges" that together form the collection titled as "Affection". Therefore, sadly for the fans, this does not seem to be a well formed piece of evidence.

So, in this episode, Trowa seems to at most see the other as a fellow pilot who is no threat to him. Quatre meanwhile seems to see the other as a potential friend if he doesn't consider him such already. Who knows, though... perhaps Trowa did feel affection towards the other as Quatre seemed to.

"Episode 05: Relena's Secret" shows Trowa's departure. Quatre watches him walk across the compound yard from a window and asks him if he must go. Quatre knows not to ask him to stay, but wishes to at least know the other's name and introduces himself. It is pretty interesting that he stayed there, played a duet with Quatre and let strangers who were Quatre's friends fix his Gundam and yet they never exchanged names during that entire time.

Anyway, Trowa pauses and turns his head to address the other, telling him to call him Trowa if he must call him anything. He then turns and finishes with his full name as he continues walking. Quatre thanks him, calling him by the name given and wishes him luck.

Quatre then settles back into the room, resting down on a bed. Rashid is there and questions if it is wise to let Trowa go like that now that he knows their location. Quatre looks certain that Trowa is trustworthy. Rashid notes Trowa could come back and attack them, but Quatre doesn't mind. It would give him a chance to see Trowa again.

Well one can determined that Trowa definitely left a good impression on Quatre. His last comment to Rashid though, I think what he really meant was that he knew Trowa wouldn't attack them, hence why he didn't mind. Again, I suppose one could say I believe in the other's empathy a bit too much.

As for Trowa, much hasn't seemed to change. He seems to grudgingly trust Quatre if anything. Perhaps he even trusts him willingly. Nothing seems to really go beyond that though.

In "Episode 07: Scenario to Bloodshed" Colonel Une leaked false information about a gathering at New Edwards. It was actually a gathering of the Alliance's pacifists but through military channels it was said that all of the top officers of OZ would be the ones gathering there instead.

The Gundam Pilots receive the false information and head off to New Edwards. Quatre is getting ready to leave for New Edwards, his Sandrock in the process of being loaded onto a ship for transport. He is making arrangements for his stay by phoning the San Francisco Starley Hotel for a room for a single person. He turns to check on the progress only to see a familiar transport truck coming near the dock and wonders if it is Trowa.

When his truck is parked, Trowa jumps out only to hear the familiar voice of Quatre. Quatre greets him amiably but Trowa frowns and his eyes twitch a bit to show his annoyance. Quatre is not ruffled by such and notes they must be on the same mission. Trowa flat out tells him that he's doing it alone. Quatre replies that he is too, but tries to use his skills of persuasion again noting their missions will be more successful should they work together. Trowa soon dismisses him by turning around and questions about Quatre's words. Quatre still smiles and steps forward a bit standing by his beliefs.

Now, what happens after that is unknown. Fans of the Trowa and Quatre pairing sometimes believe they stayed together at the hotel Quatre was looking into. Some expect that something happened between them, what it was, no one really knows. Usually though, there are those who fish for proof and think that this scene leads to a good chance of the two making relations in a more intimate way. They usually confirm their beliefs when it shows the two approaching New Edwards together in their Gundams.

While they do arrive together, that still confirms nothing. Heero and Duo had a similar situation earlier. They had similar ideas, bumped into each other and simply went together because fighting would have only caused complications to their missions. Trowa and Quatre were heading for the same area from the same starting point. Their showing up together is nothing to jump up and down about.

Well, they fight what Mobile Suits are left and then face Heero and Duo. Quatre notes to Trowa that the other two have Mobile Suits like theirs and wonders if they are the same. Trowa doesn't listen and only knows that if they stand in his way he'll fight them.

All four of them become distracted by a leaving OZ shuttle. Heero goes to destroy it, believing it to be holding many important OZ members. While this occurs, Duo decides to attack Trowa. Quatre yells for them to stop, but they keep at it. Only when Wu Fei intervenes do they realize they were duped.

Pretty much you see neither of them truly working together in this scene. Trowa and Quatre are simply not getting in each other's way. Quatre might be out to be comrades with Trowa, but Trowa still doesn't seem to care.

Upon studying the scenes they appear in, it still seems to mainly be Quatre trying to convince Trowa to be friends if not at least to work together as comrades in arms. Trowa... at most he knows the other isn't his enemy, but like all the other Gundam Pilots, he is inclined to work alone. So, while he may not hate Quatre, perhaps even likes him as a person, he does seem find the other a bother when it comes to focusing on his work.

Now, while noted in the previous episode that most of the Gundam Pilots are inclined to work alone, they do work together in "Episode 08: The Treize Assassination". Given the severity of the situation, it is understandable though. Also, with the eye opener Wu Fei gave them, it seemed to change Trowa's perspective of the others a bit as well.

Despite this, Trowa works with Wu Fei more while Quatre sticks with Duo and Heero. Thus, I doubt anything has really developed between Trowa and Quatre thus far. Sorry, yaoi fans.

In "Episode 10: Heero, Distracted By Defeat", OZ plans an operation to transport Taurus and space-type Mobile Suits to their Siberia base. They also have plans to get rid of the Gundams while doing this. All the Gundam Pilots get information of this and all but Wu Fei decide to go for it. While Quatre is sure all the Gundams will come, he never makes note of Trowa specifically.

Eventually all of them gather to the same area. They manage to destroy most of the Leos when Colonel Une uses her plan to make them surrender by placing the Colonies in danger as OZ's shield. Dr. J appears and surrenders himself but not the Gundams. Heero understands this and self-detonates.

Quatre is soon struck by the thoughts and feelings of Zechs, Une and Noin. He looks almost like he's having a heart attack. Trowa snaps him out of it by asking Quatre if he can hear him. He continues, saying they must get out of there now. Now Quatre's response in the following is taken note of:

"Trowa? Trowa, is that you?"

When it is said in Japanese, Quatre says the word "you" as "kimi". Out of all the people he has addressed, Trowa is the only one he says that to. Now "kimi" from what I have seen is a very difficult word to decipher since some people have said it is very formal and can be condescending, usually used to those of lower rank. Then there are others who says it isn't casual, but isn't respectful either; usually it is used to show a difference in status and is used by someone with authority over the listener. There is another case where it is said that men use it to close friends, lovers; superiors (including women) to inferiors. Some say it is casual polite and is sometimes used by friends. Others have said it is informal and can be used between close friends and family. Some say it is used by men to talk to younger women or children, or to intimate people.

Another note is that when a guy uses "boku" for "I" he will usually likely use "kimi" for "you". Quatre uses "boku". Usually when a guy uses "boku" he is addressing those he considers the same social status as him. With how Quatre addresses himself, I can only assume he uses "kimi" in terms of being friends in this scenario. Still, such is uncertain since I am not an expert. Nevertheless, it is hard to see Quatre addressing someone in a condescending way.

Anyway, the rest of the scene shows Trowa more or less taking command, telling Quatre and Duo that they must retreat. They soon follow through.

So, in all of this, Trowa and Quatre have little interaction. Some fans might think of his contacting Quatre to be a one-on-one situation though. Such is unknown, however. He very well might have and Duo just happened to be able to hear it as well. If it were, it would show Trowa is concerned for the other, upon hearing his distress. If it isn't, then if anything it is still the scenario of comrades in arms.

In note of this, Duo stays with Quatre while Trowa takes Heero back with him to mend his wounds for a month. Pretty much, that means Duo and Quatre spent the most time together during the series while Heero and Trowa spent the most time together with each other as well. Duo and Quatre just happened to be conscious during all their time together. In light of that, if people want to use alone time as evidence, the Duo and Quatre could have had all the chances in the world to make out like rabbits.

Colonel Une is sent up to space as a representative of OZ's peace keeping forces to further their expansion in space in "Episode 17: Betrayed By Home Country, Far Away". There she takes on a new appearance as Lady Une and preaches about OZ coming there to bring peace to space and to free the Colonies from the World Federation's military rule.

Upon hearing this, Quatre already understands that OZ is using this as an underhanded tactic to gain the trust of the Colonies since opposition will only cause the Colonists to retaliate. Seeing the Colonies falling for OZ's trap, it is decided the Gundams must return to the Colonies to protect them.

Quatre and Duo head to the Singapore Space Port Base and are fighting off OZ Mobile Suits protecting it. In doing this they try to send a message to the other three Gundam Pilots. OZ however uses their fighting to their advantage. A broadcast is shown and the Colonies slowly announce they do not support the Gundams if they are an enemy of OZ, clearly showing they have easily fallen for OZ's ploys. This doesn't deter Quatre though. He is happy just to have someone beside him who has the same heart in it. The dub translates it as him being happy there are others fighting the same cause.

Their message gets through. Wu Fei shows up to assist them. It shows Heero and Trowa are fighting to get to space as well. Trowa's thoughts are like Quatre's. The Colonies no longer understand that the Gundam Pilots are doing what they do for the right of things. Despite that, Quatre will still fight knowing the others are the same.

Trowa's snippet varies between dub script and other subtitles. In the dub he is more in tune with the others it seems as he says, "It's gonna be a difficult battle. But right now I sense peace in our five hearts." In other translations he is simply relieved like Quatre that the others are of the same mindset.

Looking at this, though there is no initial meeting between them, it gives a greater impact on Trowa and Quatre's way of thinking and feeling. Some might see this as a vital sign that they have a deep connection.

In light of this, however, why people try to pair the characters up with someone during the show is rather beyond me. They have been trained to only care about the mission. They know they could die at any time. They are willing to cause themselves to self-destruct if need be. The only one who has been stopped by reasons dealing with a person is Trowa. The others were mainly stopped due to the self-destruct button not working.

Quatre is not exactly an exception to this. He pressed his self-destruct button but the only reason he didn't die is that there was some sort of connection between him and his Gundam. Perhaps something was already set to let Quatre escape done by either by Instructor H or the Maganac group so he would survive. Either way, he understands the meaning to be Sandrock's telling him to get out and it will destroy itself alone.

Again, this makes the likelihood of Trowa and Quatre having anything romantic going on between them at this time seem unlikely. If Quatre cared deeply enough about Trowa and Trowa showed the same, I'm sure he would have considered the other's sorrow of losing him, much like how Trowa learned from Catherine.

In "Episode 18: Tallgeese Destroyed" Quatre uses Heero's coded frequency to send a message to the others,

"This is Quatre... My friends who are back in space... Now let's save the colonies together."

At this, again, one can merely assume Quatre sees all of the other Gundam Pilots as the same. He considers them friends and comrades.

Trowa and Heero are sent out piloting the Vayeate and the Mercurius respectively to take on an unknown Gundam in "Episode 24: The Gundam They Called Zero". The Scientists and the Gundam Pilots all come to believe the likely pilot of the new Gundam is Quatre. Trowa is quite sure that soon enough all of them will be prepared and be able to team up with Quatre to fight OZ. Heero is not too certain Quatre is still their ally.

An interesting scene is when Quatre destroys Colony 06-E3. Once he did it he notices his tears floating in front of him. To an extent it reflects Trowa's scene in "Episode 20: The Lunar Base Infiltration" after he destroyed Duo's Deathscythe. One might wonder if there was any significance there in regards to similiarity between him and Trowa.

Soon enough Trowa and Heero catch up to Quatre when he heads over to a Colony near their current location. While he and Heero are only there to find out how strong the new Gundam is, they might have to fight. Trowa doubts they will though as he notes,

"But this is Quatre, there's no need to worry."

Heero isn't too sure. He notes that something is wrong considering that Quatre did just blow up a Colony. It still wasn't an eye opener to Trowa though. He believed in Quatre at the time and held no suspicions of the other. He seemed to know Quatre's true nature and could never see him as an enemy.

Now, some fans of their pairing note this. Why was Trowa so certain of Quatre and believe in him so much that he placed aside the facts? Usually they think back to episode seven and the possibility of them getting together at that time. Still, it is only theoretical.

Based on previous observations, it could simply be that his time staying at Quatre's place while his Gundam was fixed he could have studied the other and came to know the other despite his wariness. Once it was established they were indeed allies, he softened up and knew overall that Quatre was a friend and understood his nature based on their past meetings. After all, he was there each time Quatre tried to make them not fight each other before it was understood that OZ tricked all of them.

Thus, considering Trowa's observation skills and ability to read people decently, if not well, he came to a conclusion as to what sort of person Quatre was. Sadly, he never considered the change that could be caused by an emotional break down as well as the effects of the ZERO System.

In any case, Heero was right to be suspicious though and his point about Quatre destroying a colony was eye opening. When they meet up to see the Gundam Zero, Trowa doesn't see Quatre as a threat to him. Due to that he still approached when it was confirmed it was indeed Quatre piloting Gundam Wing Zero despite Quatre told him not to get closer. He was utterly shocked when Quatre attacked him.

Even when the suit is half gone, he can only ask what is going on in worry. He listens and looks at the other at loss. He cannot believe this is Quatre. He can only ask what is wrong with him concernedly. He knows it isn't like him and thus Trowa looks at him hopefully. To his luck, Heero comes along before he can be killed.

In the end, it shows that Trowa cannot fight the other. Instead he can only be dumbfounded. Instead of fighting Quatre he talks and listens. It shows he indeed cares about the other to the point he will not stay in the mode of a Gundam Pilot. Instead, Trowa stays human and concerned over a fellow human.

If anything is shown, Trowa has come to consider the other a close friend. Perhaps there is a little more, but that is undetermined. Even with Quatre attacking him and threatening to kill him and the other Gundam Pilots, he still believes in Quatre and cannot see him as an enemy. Heero meanwhile can.

So... perhaps Trowa does feel some affection for the other that isn't just friendship? Before he likely would have gone after Quatre much like Heero. This time he does not.

"Episode 25: Quatre vs. Heero" starts where the previous episode left off. Heero is blasted by Quatre's weapon and is eventually trapped with the Space Colony behind him. Quatre tries to get him to move else he kills the other. Heero won't back down, because he knows Quatre is out to destroy the Colony.

Eventually Quatre gives up telling Heero to move and decides he must kill his friend then. He readies his twin buster rifle and shoots. Before the beams from his weapon reaches Heero, Trowa propels the ruined Vayeate over to shield Heero and the Colony.

Now this is where two fan pairings collide. Fans of the Trowa and Heero coupling tend to see this scene as proof that Trowa loves Heero because he shielded the other. Fans of the Trowa and Quatre coupling however argue that he did this for Quatre to snap him out of his insanity and thus risked his life for the other.

Either way, Trowa took the blow. The suit is badly beaten, but Heero and the Colony was saved. Heero takes action and uses the beam cannon connected to the Vayeate against Quatre. Heero notices the Vayeate Trowa is in will explode soon and tells Trowa to escape. Using himself to snap Quatre back to his senses Trowa risks his life by blasting the Vayeate away from the scene.

It works. Quatre no longer cares about anything but to save Trowa. By then Trowa understands well what the matter with Quatre was. As Trowa drifts away he talks to Quatre with understanding, he stays in the Vayeate so he can talk to Quatre,

"Quatre. Whatever happens, the truth is the Colonies have sided themselves with OZ. For all intents and purposes it means our war is over. At this present time, our responsibilities have been terminated.

"We're the ones who fought for the Colonies... So what they have chosen to do is really disappointing. But this is war. We have to accept that.

"The outcome now depends on how the other freedom fighters feel about this. It will depend on how we feel in our hearts. We have the potential to become the perfection of what warriors should be. It's because we fight with all our hearts, and truly believe that we can change the world. It's not just you, Quatre. It is how we all feel.

"I know you're under a lot of pressure. We give everything we have, and try and figure out what it all means. Yet in the end, everything we had fought for came to nothing. I have to accept this. The five of us are now unnecessary soldiers.

"So, Quatre, let's accept this fact. And please go back to being the kind-hearted Quatre we knew. I wish you could calm your heart somehow, Quatre. Somehow, Quatre..."

His last words trail off as the Vayeate explodes with him in it. He is what triggered Quatre's return to sanity. Ever the selfless, Trowa's last words as he drifts off into space are for Heero not to be too hard on Quatre.

So... did he "die" for Quatre out of romantic love? No one knows. Perhaps he does love Quatre. Perhaps he does love Heero. His feelings are strong enough to die for both, but what is the source... friendship, family or romance? It cannot be established. All that is proven is that Trowa is a very self-sacrificing guy who cares about those close to him deeply.

There is question though as to whether some of this was due to seeing himself as unimportant. He has a tendency to do that. He admires Heero and almost all the characters see him as the one who can fulfill the impossible, thus Trowa will see him as necessary. He may think the same of Quatre or just really wishes to protect the other. Again, it is all interpretation.

While it is already given that Trowa has shown kindess to his fellow Gundam Pilots, his ways certainly impacted Quatre the most up to "Episode 26: The Eternal Flame of the Shooting Star". Trowa helped release Quatre from the ZERO System's influence and told him how to go on.

When Quatre and Heero are picked up by the part of OZ controlled by Romefeller, Quatre tries to get away so he can simply see if Trowa is still alive or at least in the beaten up Vayeate suit. Heero gives him time by knocking down the others.

Heero and Quatre end up meeting the scientists. Quatre is determined to find out what happened to Trowa unlike the others (the two doctors, the instructor, the professor and the master who worked on the Gundams and possibly Heero.)

Later when Heero is influenced by the ZERO System, Quatre catches on. He remembers what Trowa told him,

"Trowa warned me of this. It's not good if the pilot goes out fighting recklessly. Fighting alone won't bring an end to this war."

While in translations of when Quatre, while in the Mercurius, is trying to reason with Heero he spoke of losing the most important thing about himself, in the dub it is rephrased as him losing "something important", thus giving indication to Trowa. In either case he lost something. The first translation he lost an important facet of himself. In turn, Trowa managed to help him recover it. In the dubbed translation, he ultimately lost something important, which could mean Trowa, to him.

So, while it is still unknown about their feelings towards each other, Trowa is definitely important to Quatre.

In "Episode 33: The Lonely Battlefield" Trowa's missing still effects Quatre the most. It could be because Quatre is the empathic one and thus feels the loss more than the others would, but it still does greatly how Trowa affected him that day he last saw him.

Perhaps he understands just what Trowa did to save Quatre by using himself as a sacrifice. Trowa could have left the scene without the Vayeate. He could have tried going to the Colony while the rest of the fight continued. Quatre is the type likely able to consider that.

Again one can look at why Trowa would sacrifice himself for the other and how Quatre likely feels in return. It is still uncertain though.

In "Episode 34: And Its Name Is Epyon" some fans who like to pair up Trowa and Quatre like to note the scene where Heero takes off to fight when he learns that Romefeller intends to hit Sanc Kingdom. Quatre tries to go but Heero tells him not to.

Quatre has to stay there and not die, at least not until Trowa is found. Heero understands the importance of Trowa to Quatre. Where that importance lies still is undetermined, however.

Duo has found Trowa is living with a traveling circus. In "Episode 38: The Birth of Queen Relena" he notes to Quatre that Trowa is still alive. Quatre ends up going to the circus Trowa works at. He soon finds Trowa as he takes care of the lion he performs with.

Seeing him alive brings tears to Quatre's eyes. Sadly, Trowa doesn't recognize him. Catherine soon arrives and is livid. She orders Trowa to leave so she can face Quatre. He seems to understand her protectiveness of her and thus relents easily.

And Catherine is protective. She makes sure Quatre can't follow by blocking him with her body. Ready to keep Trowa from feeling the pains of war again, she tells Quatre that Trowa is her little brother and how she doesn't want him to suffer anymore. She informs Quatre of his amnesia and her beliefs that he lost his memory because he didn't want to remember any of his painful experiences anymore.

By the looks of that Catherine truly believes that and her concern for him is utterly apparent. What time they spent together, she knew he belonged there. He produced a feeling of family out of her in a way that seems stronger than anyone else.

In hearing all of this Quatre is remorseful. Again all the feelings and knowledge of what Trowa did to correct his mistakes with Wing Zero and the fact that he sacrificed himself come to mind.

Trowa hid and listened in though and watches Quatre walk away in sorrow. Out of all the things familiar to him, Quatre affected him the most. While he didn't remember Catherine and merely went along with her to the circus and he had already met Duo... he never responded so intensely. He realized quickly he did know Quatre without needing to be told. He knew Quatre felt familiar. Some of that leads to wonder though. His mind or body seemed to want to remember Quatre despite its blocks.

Soon enough the Space Colony the circus is visiting comes under fire as OZ troops and White Fang bring their battle towards the area. The place begins to quake and a light fixture at the circus comes loose and plummets towards Trowa. Catherine reacts fast and dives to push him away, putting her life on the line as well.

Trowa meanwhile is frozen into a curled up position and he trembles as his time drifting in space brings back memories of coldness. He mutters out that something is coming, perhaps instincts of his life as a Gundam Pilot acting up. Catherine looks at him compassionately as she holds him.

Quatre comes to make sure they are alright. He finds the two and tells them to evacuate to a shelter. Catherine is livid when she learns what is happening. Slowly her anger turns to tears. She doesn't want to lose anymore of those important to her. Trowa soon leaves his position then and grabs Catherine's shoulders. Despite he has no memories and is scared as well, her tears move him and he finds strength. He tells her reassuringly, "Don't cry, Sister. I'll protect you."

Catherine is shocked.

Quatre responds he doesn't want to lose any one important either. He tells Trowa he saved his soul and in turn he will save everyone else now. He looks at Trowa fondly and with teary eyes and then leaves. Trowa watches him with a look of certainly on his features that have been lacking since his amnesia.

As Quatre is fighting outside the Colony, Trowa stands outside the circus tent and looks forward thoughtfully. He begins to leave. Catherine comes along and asks him where he is going. He responds, "He is calling." Catherine doesn't understand what he means. Even without a Space Heart, Trowa knew. He tells Catherine, "He's crying."

She soon understands what he is getting at and tries to stop him. Trowa then turns at her and looks at her with a gentle appearance to him.

"I recall somebody telling me a long time ago that the only way to live a good life is to act on your emotions."

Catherine knows then that he is steadfast and she can't stop him. His expression lightens a bit to what I assume to be affection. Perhaps it is due to her reluctant acceptance. He promises to come back to her. His expression is certain and at peace.

With that he takes a shuttle and heads for space. Quatre catches sight of him and knows it is him.

Well, that was a lot to look over. This episode really does make one question how close Trowa and Quatre are. Many fans of their pairing will likely jump at this if anything as proof. If anything, his connection to Quatre seems the strongest out of all the people he cares about.

That does cause speculation as to why some people might question the possibility of soul mates. Even I must admit it is an episode that really causes the viewer to see something is definitely between the two. It actually makes me think of the various scenes that show a similar connection between Une and Treize as well as Noin and Zechs. Still, it is speculation.

In "Episode 39: Trowa's Return to the Battlefield" Trowa and Quatre are on a shuttle with Noin. When Noin tells him she's glad he's aboard, he admits to her he lacks his memories so he doubts he'll be much help. He does admit though that he feels at peace being with them.

Some fans of the pairing like to note this scene as having a deeper meaning. From what I see, it means he knows he belongs there just as much as he does at the circus, as there has been similar wording used when describing his time at the circus after spending time with Catherine.

Later when battling off OZ Taurus Suits, Quatre finds it difficult to battle in space since his Gundam was made to be able to fight on Earth rather than space. Thus Trowa is in the font line destroying many. So, despite Noin set the shuttle they were on to explode, Quatre risks his life to help Trowa by going to it. When it explodes his Gundam is propelled forward to reach where Trowa is.

Again, some see this as more evidence. Perhaps it does show that Quatre loves him romantically, perhaps not. Perhaps he knew that his Gundam was able to withstand such a blow if at a certain distance. I doubt he'd risk getting himself killed before reaching the other to help. After all, he is likely worried that the other might not be up to par as a Gundam Pilot still due to his amnesia. Perhaps though, the danger lay in the force it would have on his body. Either way, it distressed Noin greatly.
Well, when Trowa runs out of ammunition, he does what he can. When left defenseless he gives in. He thinks of Catherine, likely due to the promise he made to her about returning and feeling regret over not being able to keep it.

While this is about his relationship with Quatre, in note of his thoughts of Catherine, some fans of the Trowa and Catherine pairing might hone in on that. Again, it seems to prove nothing in their case either. He thinks she's his sister at the time and he made a promise to live and come back to who he thinks to be his only known relative.

To his luck though, Quatre arrives in time to save him by ramming his Gundam into the OZ Taurus about to kill Trowa. Soon enough, Duo arrives and more or less takes Trowa's place in fighting. They finally destroy the OZ Taurus Suits, and the four step out of their suits to face each other.

Some yaoi fans of the two notice the way their Mobile Suits are positioned. One of them was supporting the other by holding onto the other's Mobile Suit. It is hard to tell which though. It looks like it is Sandrock holding the Taurus. It took a while to study it, but that seems the most likely.

Does this prove anything on Trowa's side? At most it shows he trusts Quatre even though he doesn't remember him well if at all. He allows the other to give him physical support.

As for Quatre, perhaps it does mean he feels for Trowa. Again, there is the case of him causing Trowa to be that way and all the worry he had over the other before in regards to being alive or not. I highly doubt Quatre would allow a chance for him to die in front of him all over again and likely truly be dead this time around.

Thus the only thing determined from this is that Quatre at least sees Trowa as an important and close friend who cannot stand losing again and that Trowa is comfortable around the boy he barely remembers.

In "Episode 43: Target: Earth" OZ has been pushed into a corner and uses a Colony as its shield from White Fang. Trowa eventually learns that Catherine and the rest of the circus are on that Colony. Knowing that since OZ is hiding from Zechs who Heero noted will likely let the Colony be sacrificed Trowa heads off to save his "sister". He suits up for space and since his Gundam is still not ready, he uses Wing Zero.

Trowa reaches the Colony and fights, telling himself he must save his "sister" as the ZERO System tries to take control. He eventually begins to hallucinate, however, and sees himself killing Catherine with Wing Zero a possible future ZERO shows him should he hit the Colony. He hyperventilates from such images and his terror of such an act is expressed in screams.

Luckily Quatre arrives in time before Trowa blasts a Taurus Suit that is right in front of the Colony. Quatre does his best to snap Trowa out of it. In the dub translation Quatre says, "The person you have to protect lives there!" In other translations he says, "There are people you want to protect there!" Either phrase, it sticks with Trowa. Trowa still struggles against the ZERO System and brokenly repeats the phrase.

Now, while it is more or less given that he regained his memory due to Quatre and the ZERO System, some fans of their pairing see it as being mainly Quatre. What they examine is what soon occurs his memories come back.

Trowa first sees when Wing Zero shot its twin buster rifle at Heero for less than a second. He remembers his time looking after Heero for less than a second. Then he sees the time Catherine hit him for less than a second. Finally he sees the time he first met Quatre for three seconds. Slowly, everything becomes clear for him again.

Fans may note that the reason he saw the memory of Quatre using Wing Zero and firing at Heero is due to the overwhelming feeling Wing Zero is giving him at the moment. It makes him think of death and fighting and thus led to his memory of Heero.

The next memory is when Heero woke up a month after his self-destruction. Some believe he is remembering the occurrences in that memory more than the person. The same belief goes with the memory of Catherine. When he remembers her the scene is when he tried to self-destruct.

Both dealing with self-destruction, some will say he recalled Heero because he admired the other for his strength, because at the time Trowa had no goal or anyone to protect. They then note why Catherine soon comes to mind because she stopped him from self-destructing and made him have a reason to live. His reason was because should he die people will be left mourning for him.

Because of that, they then say that is why he then thought of Quatre. They believe he thought of Quatre as the person and not of the occurrences upon meeting the other. In this memory he first meets Quatre and there is no connection to the death and self-destruction theme. Also noted is that his memory of Quatre is longer than the rest and that in observation of human nature, the last thing you remember is the most important.

Well, as far as that explanation goes, it did make me notice something I never would have on my own. Now, where this explaination came from, I cannot recall, sadly. I simply remember reading something like it a long time ago. Anyway, I do find it interesting and not quite fishing as some fan "evidence" goes. I never noticed the theme and it seems quite reasonable.

From my own observations, I figured that the first memory was sort of a door opener. It showed him why he lost his memory. The second was because he seemed to always look up to Heero and thus he was an important person to him. The third was of Catherine because she made him realize he was an important person as well. The last was Quatre because they have an understanding of each other that is quite deep.

Looking at how he remembered those times when thinking of the people he wants to protect... What I saw only made me wonder if that gave indication that they are the three people he wants to protect most.

Anyway, Quatre is worried sick about him while this is occurring. Trowa soon comes to though and replies that Quatre is right. They have people they wish to protect. Quatre knows then that Trowa has his memories back. Trowa tells him, "Let's go. Catherine's waiting." Thus, together they go to save the Colony.

So, with this episode, one knows who is important to Trowa if anything. To some, Quatre seems to be the most important person from what is given, but that is not certain. Quatre in turn is greatly affected by Trowa and obviously cares for him deeply. Romantic attraction, however, is still not established.

After the commercial break eyecatch in "Episode 44: Go Forth, Gundam Team" it shows the Peacemillion Spacecraft. The Gundam Pilots are taking a break from battle. An "evidence" by a Trowa and Quatre couple fan noted that while Trowa stands in front of the window, he seems to be staring at Quatre out of all the other Gundam Pilots that are resting behind him about the room.

I studied the scene while watching and screen captures of it. It only appears like he is looking at Quatre because of the light glare to his eyes. If that were the case he could have very well been looking at Duo or Wu Fei specifically. Thus, he either could have been doing that, looking at them as a group or simply was gazing forward.

Even when he turns around, it is hard to tell where his pupils are directed because they are not simply ovals like Duo's. They are shaded to the point you cannot tell if he is looking at Sally or Duo at the time.

Just as a note, earlier in the episode, Trowa's Gundam gets hit hard to the point the lower right arm of his Gundam is blown off by a Mobile Doll. He flies back from the force and is caught by Duo. The hold being used is very similar to the one between Trowa, in the Tuarus, and Quatre, in his Sandrock, during the end of episode 39. That scene had been used as evidence of possible romantic feelings between the two.

If that is the case, this either means Trowa also has something going on with Duo or that this holding each other is to support a physically battered person up. I am inclined to think the latter. They are at war. They fight, they help each other. They are likely a bit too preoccupied about their next moves and surviving over holding and groping each other.

A scene from "Episode 47: Collision In Space" was used as an example of Trowa's concern for Quatre. It took me a while to understand where I could have missed that. I eventually found the scene. I missed it because this "evidence" was put out of context. In other words, it was fishing at its worst.

The scene was while Quatre, Trowa, Duo and Wu Fei were facing off against Milliardo. Quatre was his main target since he was the strategic member of the group, thus the "head". He pushed Quatre hard. The other three see this. Trowa yells out, "Duo! Wu Fei!" They understand and all three go to aid the other.

What was taken out of context was that the "evidence" said he was yelling at the other two to "Save Quatre." While to a certain extent it is true, it was more likely the case of "we must team up and help him because he is being ganged up on". After all, all three of them try to head over to help him, but are met by other Mobile Dolls. While they try to get to them, Quatre is taking extreme hits from Milliardo and the three Mobile Dolls that work as shields as well as offence for him.

Therefore, yes... I see no evidence here in terms of romance. Trowa, Duo and Wu Fei are all obviously worried for him and in such a scenario you would be too if you saw your friend being ganged up on. Therefore, all that is certain here is that they all care for him as a comrade and friend.

Compared to the previous episode, "Episode 48: Takeoff Into Confusion" holds more merit to a likely romantic hinting. Back in episode 27, Duo, Quatre and Trowa went in search for the control rooms for the Mobile Dolls. Duo ends up looking for Heero and Relena only to find the Scientists who created the Gundams. Trowa goes to his Gundam to destroy as many Mobile Dolls as he can. Quatre finds the room at the central core of Libra only to encounter Dorothy.

Soon enough she challenges him to a duel he is unable to back out of in this episode. Trowa meanwhile is still in Heavy Arms and is suddenly in search of Quatre. In the dub he says,

"I'm coming, Quatre."

In other translations he says,

"Wait for me, Quatre."

How he suddenly knew he was needed is something to note. Again, it seems he has a great sense of empathy to the point he can even tell when Quatre is distressed despite they are not even in the same proximity. Again, there seems to be some sort of empathetic connection between the two.

Soon Duo shows up and helps Trowa destroy some Mobile Dolls. Whether Duo could feel Quatre's distress, it is unknown. Still, when they part, Duo thinks to Trowa not to die. Trowa seemed to understand his feelings despite not hearing his thoughts. He thinks back, "You too..."

When Trowa comes upon the hall leading to the control room, he knows. He just somehow knows and leaves his Gundam. Whether he realizes it is to the control room or not, it is unknown. He seems to know that Quatre is there though. Perhaps it is merely due to the area being the last place he had yet to look, though? Such is not elaborated on.

Eventually Dorothy stabs Quatre in his left abdomen area. Dorothy tells him the significance of the war and he sees his past self in her.

"You're like me... detesting war... but never able to forgive yourself for your gentleness... but... you can't deny your gentle nature...

"Trowa taught me that... you have to accept everything... humanity needs that quality... or else... there is no reason to exist... isn't that so? The remaining humans... would be nothing better than animals..."

Trowa really did understand Quatre and his words taught Quatre well. For that, Quatre really takes what the other said to heart and tries to teach what Trowa taught him to Dorothy. Pretty amazing that Trowa had that sort of impact.

Sadly, Quatre passes out after relaying the truth to the message to her. Now, to a topic that has little to do with Trowa and Quatre's views of each other... Why people pair Quatre up with Dorothy at times is still beyond me. Sure, this scene does lighten one's view of her and Quatre can relate to her, but how does this scene bring merit to suddenly falling in love with each other? It doesn't. It simply shows understanding and compassion, something Quatre is skilled at. Really though, they haven't even established a friendship yet.

Well, back to the point of this, later Trowa manages to arrive. He takes in the scene and makes a comment to Dorothy.

"Episode 49: The Final Victor" picks up where the last episode left off. Trowa goes to necessary objectives first, of course. He disables the Mobile Dolls. Some might say it goes to show he doesn't care about Quatre as much as other think. Perhaps, but there is the danger of the situation they are in to consider. Without ridding the others of the Mobile Dolls, there is more chance of killings and troubles for the others. During this, Trowa talks to Dorothy.

"As I fought, I slowly killed my heart. That's why my heart has been empty for a long time. Perhaps as a human I have no worth, but I must stay alive."

"Because I have a place to go back to."

It is speculation, but I think that was his way of telling Dorothy to keep on living. Once his first objective is finished, he goes to Quatre. He eyes him with gentleness and concern.

His understanding of Quatre and Dorothy's personal situations are set. When Quatre tells him to save Dorothy instead of him, Trowa tells him Dorothy is not weak enough to lose herself. Quatre understands. He trusts Trowa and perhaps he too comes to know on his own based on his time with Dorothy.

They leave the room then, Trowa supporting Quatre. They turn though and Trowa tosses Dorothy her helmet and tells her she should hurry and Quatre tells her not to get killed. They leave then.

Fans of the pairing might zero in on how Trowa acts towards the other and how he supports the other before they leave. Well, look at the logic. Quatre is hurt and Trowa is an extremely close friend as well as comrade in arms. Of course he will be gentle and help Quatre. He'd likely be that way even if they didn't know each other that well just in the simple fact that they are both Gundam Pilots.

Well, in viewing all of this, again, one can only establish at most that Trowa and Quatre are extremely close friends who understand each other greatly. The empathy is something to make one wonder though, thus a hint of possibility of something beyond friendship.
