Nanako Misanoo is the main character and it is through her eyes do you experience what goes on. Notable characteristics: She writes letters and tends to cry a lot. Mariko Shinobu is a beautiful girl who is instantly attracted to Nanako. Notable characteristics: Red lips and red painted thumbnails. Rei Asaka is called "Saint-Just" at her school and is Kaoru's best friend as well as being an interest to Nanako. Notable characteristics: She always has pills at hand. Fukiko Ichinomiya is called "Miya-sama" at the school and is the leader of the Sorority and President of the Student Council. Notable characteristics: Has a thing for roses and scarlet lipstick. Takehiko Henmi is a university student who soon became the "oniisama" Nanako confides to in her letters. Notable characteristics: Enchanting deep brown eyes.

Other Characters

Takashi Ichinomiya is Takehiko's best friend and is Fukiko's older brother. Notable characteristics: Drives a sports car. Tomoko Arikura is Nanako's best friend up until they entered Seiran. (Mainly in the manga is she gone.) Notable characteristics: She has freckles on her nose. Aya Misaki, the daughter of a lawyer, is a childhood rival against Mariko and soon becomes Nanako's enemy. Notable characteristics: Furuta and Sonobe are often with her. Mr. Misonoo is Nanako's patient stepfather. Notable characteristics: He is a well-known university teacher. Mrs. Misonoo is Nanako's kind mother. Notable characteristics: She is usually in a kimono.
